The National Foundry Technology Network in South Africa has expanded its technical capabilities by appointing two technical advisers. The objective is to ensure that the NFTN is more responsive to the industry and to help develop a globally competitive South African foundry industry.
Isidore Kilongozi and Manini Ramagaga will provide technical support to the industry in the country.
Kilongozi holds a Master’s degree in engineering metallurgy from the University of Johannesburg and has been involved in engineering, manufacturing, R&D and lecturing during the past ten years. He has experience and knowledge of the South African foundry industry with a good technical acumen.
Ramagaga is a postgraduate professional passionate about engineering metallurgy and foundry technology. She studied engineering metallurgy at the former Technikon Witwatersrand (now University of Johannesburg). She started her career as a researcher within an academic institution and moved to industry where her industrial technical skills were honed.
After ten years in the industrial field, she joined one of the South African science councils. It proved to be an interesting time, where the hands-on industrial operational skills gained in the past could be applied to the research within the South African foundry industry.
