China's Hebei expects to reduce steel production in 2019-2020 to solve smog issue--The 20th China(Guangzhou) Die-casting, Foundry & Industry Furnace Exhibition

It was reported that in order to ameliorate the air pollution issue, Chinese Hebei scheduled to reduce its steel capacity during 2019 to 2020.
Hebei, the primary steelmaking province of China, planned to lessen the steel production by 14 million tons yearly, meanwhile they targeted to cut off PM2.5 concentration by at least 5% year on year this year. Now they would make more efforts in improving the air quality than concerns on GDP.
The statistics from the National Bureau of Statistics of China showed that Hebei produced around 237 million tons of crude steel in 2018, accounting for 25% above of Chinese total steel output.
