This week, Formosa Ha Tinh Steel, one of the steelmakers in Vietnam, decided to lower their price on hot-rolled coil (HRC) by US$20/ton.
However, the current Vietnamese HRC market was full of cheap HRC from India and Russia, which might encourage Formosa Ha Tinh Steel to lower their price further to stable the orders.
Not only in Vietnam, but China also faced a low demand in HRC, which might also increase their exports to balance the supply, and which would further influence the oversea market price.
No matter of Formosa Ha Tinh Steel or steel mills from Russia, the HRC profit margin in Asia was very low in the recent period, and the Japanese mills were still watching the future trend, and waiting for the rebound.
