Chicago-based Zekelman Industries has entered into a definitive agreement for Wheatland Tube to purchase Western Tube & Conduit Corp., Long Beach, Calif., from Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corp. and other minority shareholders.
Western Tube & Conduit is a producer of black and galvanized steel tubing. Zekelman Industries sells electrical conduit, fence pipe, and mechanical tube products through its Wheatland Tube division.
"Western Tube and Wheatland Tube offer complementary products and services. Each company will continue to operate in the marketplace as it does today," said Jim Hays, president of electrical, fence, and mechanical for Zekelman Industries.
